SWB Oversubscription Appeal

Hi, Does anyone know from previous years how many oversubscription appeals were successful for SWB. I think I read somewhere on this site that there are over 30 appeals this year. Realistically, how many of these might be successful, if any, if the school can only take 120 children? We are on the waiting list as well as appealing, but there are several people I know who live nearer than us (let alone those I don't know).

You would probably need up to 5 years' figures to see whether there's a pattern. Appeal panels are regularly changed, not least because of a requirement that the same panel members should not continue hearing appeals for the same school for more than 3 years. Different panels might come to a different view about (for example) the strength of the school case.

The fact that a school can take only 120 is neither here nor there. The point of an appeal is to determine whether your reasons for wanting a place outweigh any prejudice to the school. It's certainly possible for some appeals to be successful, but usually impossible to guess how many.

An appeal panel is not limited to the admission criteria. You might have very good reasons for wanting a place, which have nothing to do with the oversubscription criteria.
