Advice on a score

Post by Guest »

I am currently compiling evidence for my son's appeal. One evidence is his CATs test result of which he took in Sept with a raw score of 55/58 standardised score 120. I am told this was the highest in the class, but could anyone tell me just how good this score is?? I only ask, as, if I am to be reeling of stats, I should be a bit more aware of them!!! Thanks

120 (is this the overall standardised score?) is around the 90th percentile, which is very good.

Beware, however, of making direct comparisons with the 11+. See the Q&As (follow link at top of page), section B4.

Thanks Etienne,
I just have it written down on a piece of paper from the head 55/58 raw. Standardised 120, so presumably?? Thanks for the insight, without a comparison to others a number is just a number!!

I know all the tests ie SATs Heinemann tests etc that schools do, all measure different things to the 11+ but we have to use what we can!!!

Once again many thanks.
