Can you appeal for more than one school?
We are not happy with the choice we have been given, can we appeal for two schools separately? They were both above the choice we were given but both schools are oversubscribed. Will this enhance our chances or decrease them?
One of the schools is at the bottom of our road, does distance make a big difference? Also will the panel be informed that we are appealing for another school also?
new to all of this - be glad for some advice.

I have just been told by the council that this will make our appeal weaker if we appeal for two schools. They have suggested appealing for the closest school but, we would prefer the school further away as it is an all girls school and feel our daughter would do better there. It also has better facilities for my daughters other interests.
Any advice, - do we appeal for the school at the bottom of our road, or, the school my daughter really wants to go to which has specialist status in her vocational studies?
Be grateful for some honest advice, council may be bias!

Difficult to say. If the panel become aware of the fact that you are appealing simultaneously for several schools, it might raise doubts in their mind about which school you really want.
Similarly, if they see you appealing for a school way down on your CAF (a copy of which they will probably have), it could prompt some questions.
On the other hand, if you only appeal for one school at a time, it puts you at a disadvantage with the late appeals, because additional places may have been allocated by then (thereby strengthening the school's case for prejudice).
No easy answers, I'm afraid ........

I see no reason why you shouldn't "accept provisionally pending an appeal". Some authorities go out of their way to recommend this course of action, so that parents are not at risk of losing the school place already offered.
From the appeal point of view, it makes perfect sense that you wish to appeal for a higher preference.
Hope this helps

Do the LEA know which schools you are appealing against?
Or how can they keep a track of wher you are appealing.
Or how can they keep a track of wher you are appealing.

Hi Sloughmum -this thread is 4 years old, probably best if you ask your question on the other thread you were using.
