Berks Appeal Advice

Post by Raj2710 »

I am helping with the appeal for a friend’s child (Non qualification – Slough Consortium). As her first preference school was LGS, we received an appeal hearing notice from IAP on behalf of LGS which is scheduled to take place shortly. Though we individually appealed to other schools in the consortium, we were informed that there will be only one appeal heard. (Non qualification appeals submitted in Feb 12).

At the appeal hearing will the panel consider the case as if the child is suitable for a place at LGS or for that matter for any Grammar School in the consortium? (The schools we listed as 2nd, 3rd .....preferences in the CAF).

If the appeal panel will only to consider the suitability for a place at LGS, do we need appeal individually to all other schools now?

Bit confused with the Berks appeal procedure, please can someone help?

It is confusing!

Suggest you read all the way through this thread:

Thanks Etienne, the thread was very useful with providing an answer to question.

Is there a way to find out the minimum scores that would have been required for an admission at LGS/HGS/SGS and St Bernards for 2012.

Appreciate some advise on this.

My friend is wondering if he could take his older child before the appeal panel, to help him with interpretation /communication.

Is there a minimum age for anyone who wants appear before the panel to speak on behalf of a child.

Thanks

It would be best if your friend were to contact whoever is arranging appeals - at least two weeks before the hearing - to let them know what he is proposing. If they have any concerns, it is open to them to provide an interpreter at their expense.
