Can anyone help? Would a parent be entitled to an interpreter for an appeal?
Thanks

Many authorities will provide this service free of charge, provided reasonable notice is given.

As far as I am aware, it is not a requirement that they should do so.

The current code of practice gives no guidance on the matter.

The new code (if it comes into force next year) is likely to recommend but not require it:
Parents may be accompanied or represented by a friend, adviser, interpreter ....... who may speak on behalf of the parent at the hearing. Where parents request the services of a translator ....... the admission authority should make and fund the necessary arrangements.

Bucks offer to provide a translator (sic) and pay for their services.

Lincolnshire will provide interpreters and will also get documents translated if necessary.

I'm glad to see that at least everyone on this thread understands the difference between an interpreter and a translator.

What chance that Bucks might find out too, do you think?
