Hello
I have today recieved reasons for appeal failure sent by the county solicitor it says there is no right to take test again this year and hence no further appeals to clarify one test meant one appeal .does any one know if this is correct?I thought I had read other wise on this forum .

Dear lucy

I think it is correct that there is no right to sit the 11+ again this year. Some authorities will offer a 12+ next year, but others will not.

Normally there is just the one appeal against non-qualification at 11+. However, the ombudsman could require a re-hearing if he thought there was an injustice in the original appeal. Also, in exceptional cases, the admission authority might agree to a re-hearing if significant new evidence became available that was not available at the time of the original appeal, and could not reasonably have been provided then.

Appeals against oversubscription at a particular school are different in that parents can appeal for a place once every year.

Regards
