Have fixed the quotation for you, Poppet - but if you follow the link:

and scroll down to no. 3 you'll find an explanation.
I'm afraid that in the past the consortium appeals seem to have lacked transparency and to have been somewhat prone to errors.

15 minutes, if that is still their target, is insufficient. You should be asked at the end of the hearing if you've had enough time. Never say 'Yes' if you haven't, as that statement will be used against you in the event of any subsequent complaint.
Usually they seem to consider non-qualification and oversubscription at one and the same hearing, but I don't recall a separate decision on the qualification issue. I think you either get offered a place, or you don't. If Chad is around, she may have more up-to-date information.

Re: Including all school reports or just the latest?
Thanks Poppet3 looks like a long haul - I am still waiting for the letter DS's head teacher promised she would write 2 weeks ago( head is leaving the school at Easter so wanted to get in early) Well DS has had the school allocated we thought he would get which is a good school but not what we wanted so the appeal goes on I guess. Good luck with your own appeal.Poppet3 wrote: DC17C, it looks like you are making really positive leaps forward in your appeal preparation. I wish you the very best of luck and really hope to see good news from you at the end of this very testing next chapter!
Update - head's letter has appeared today and is very helpful
Re: Including all school reports or just the latest?
Thank goodness the head's letter is what you need too. We have that question mark still - will be able to relax a little once we know the wording of that!
Re: Including all school reports or just the latest?
Well I have handed in my appeal paperwork- in the end included Yr 2,4 &5 reports as all add to evidence and the admissions clerk was happy to accept them. (did not have yr 3 report) Just a long wait until the the first week of June now.
Re: Including all school reports or just the latest?
Well done! I'm not quite there yet but presume (well, hope) that I'll feel a little better when it's all submitted....then the long wait I'm finding it so difficult to switch off from it
Re: Including all school reports or just the latest?
I know what you mean but I have 2 operations to look forward to in the next 2 months so I needed to get it sorted and try not to think about it for a while
Re: Including all school reports or just the latest?
I wish you the very best of luck with everything!
getting information re school going over PAN
Hi another quick question to the lovely moderators-
I have looked at league tables to get information on the number of boys at the GS to which I am appealing for DS. The number in the KS4 GCSE cohort over the last 5 years have been as many as 6 over PAN - I presume that can only happen because of previous successful appeals- the GCSE results have not been affected at all. Is that sufficient argument for the over subcription element of an appeal? Do I need to copy this information and provide it in my evidence or is that seen as a fact that the LEA/ school will know anyway.

Re: getting information re school going over PAN
It will probably account for most of them - but you need to ask at the hearing.I have looked at league tables to get information on the number of boys at the GS to which I am appealing for DS. You should then ask what evidence there is that the school has not coped with the extra numbers.
No. You can weaken the school's case by questioning it - but you counter it by putting forward your own reasons for wanting a place.the GCSE results have not been affected at all. Is that sufficient argument for the over subcription element of an appeal?

They probably will all know, but you should bring the facts out into the open by asking questions at the hearing.Do I need to copy this information and provide it in my evidence or is that seen as a fact that the LEA/ school will know anyway.

Re: Including all school reports or just the latest?
Thank you Etienne- that all makes sense. I am on enforced bed rest after my operation so lots of time to think of new questions to ask
