Professional help?

Post by Seen »

Hello

Just wondering if anyone has either used or are thinking of using professional help with an appeal? We've been looking into to it & although its very expensive I'm wondering whether it might be worth it.

DH is erring towards 'not' but I'm worried that we might miss something,say the wrong thing or just fluff it altogether due to nerves :cry:

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Have you read the Appeals Section on this site? There's lots of good information there about what to expect.

I honestly think that professional help is not necessary and could even be counter-productive. I am sure that I will annoy some posters here but surely the presence of a 'professional' may not be seen as helpful at a hearing-if they do a few over a couple of years at sought after schools they will be recognised and if you get help with the statement there must be a point when regular appeal panellists recognise the style of statements? I don't know but having been through this a few times I have met a few other parents on the way who engaged someone to help them and have come to the conclusion that unless there are very exceptional reasons such as a really complicated sen issue that it is better to save your money and follow the q and a's here and with the support of Etienne and Sally-Anne and everyone else sharing and offering their experiences on here you will be in the best position to put together the best possible statement and hearing for your dc.

Thank you so much :D

We have definitely decided not to go ahead with anything like this but I've been surprised by the amount of people in this part of Kent that do. I must admit that for a second there I did think it might be the answer for my already shredded nerves! :wink:

So so grateful for all the support on here :D

Kent appeal

Post by Seen »

Hello

Well the time has come (I've been dreading it) for us to appeal for our DD to go to a Kent Grammar school :roll:

Just wondering how to start. I'm just about to download the appeals form from the KCC website but I always thought I had to write a letter & write to the GS I would like to appeal to.
Is this wrong?
It all seems a bit too straightforward & it's making me nervous (already!) :)

Please help

Lots of advice in the Q&As:

http://www.elevenplusexams.co.uk/appeals/general#a42" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://www.elevenplusexams.co.uk/appeal ... cation#b21" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://www.elevenplusexams.co.uk/appeal ... school#c18" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Each appeal should be targeted at the particular school. Who you send it to depends on what instructions you're given.
