Thanks Etienne

When you say "reasons for wanting a place" I'm a bit stuck!

Should I put those reasons on the form itself and what sort of things would they expect to see/should I put?

My reasons are:

The right a school for my daughter having visited it.
Local to us
Could have appealed two equally good grammar schools the other wasn't "right" forum daughter.
Obviously because academically believe she should be in a grammar a school.

Because of the IT and maths specialisms and science facilities
Also because of textile/art and the home economic facilities.

Is that sort of thing you mean to include as reasons for wanting a place there?

Thanks again bet you will e glad when I've sent this letter!

Yes, with the usual cautions:
• be concise
• evidence is better than assertion.
and what sort of things would they expect to see/should I put?

A bit vague - but it's good to make clear you've visited the school (amazing how many parents turn up to an appeal never having been to the school!).
Local to us
OK
Could have appealed two equally good grammar schools the other wasn't "right" for daughter.
Good. (Be prepared to be asked why.)
Obviously because academically believe she should be in a grammar a school.
Superfluous, really.
Because of the IT and maths specialisms and science facilities
Also because of textile/art and the home economic facilities.
Include the evidence. Check that this doesn't become 'unbalanced' (top heavy with non-academic subjects).
Is that sort of thing you mean to include as reasons for wanting a place there?
Yes. :)

There's more than one template!

Does this one help?

Hi Etienne

Spookily thats the one I used!

I think Im done to be honest

Headings

My main grounds for appeal
Academic Evidence
Extenuating Circumstances/Previous Medical History
Reasons for Appealing for that particular school

its approx the front of form and one more half side of A4?

I think its probably too detailed to be fair and not sure how to condense anymore. Last question I promise in terms of content and "flow" Im not sure where to site the Reasons for appealing the particular school at the end? I hadnt banked on including why I was appealing that actual school to be honest to a bit of an add on at the moment.

Having been through this I believe I need to add some further evidence, should I say so in the statement or just send in as and when I receive it to be added?

Its been really hard with the extenuating circumstances/medical side to be brief to be honest, is that normal?

Thanks again for all your help Etienne in fairness, I really couldnt have done this without the advice on hear and from you personally!

It would probably be a good idea to write "Further evidence to follow" at the end of the appropriate section - but only if you're sure you will be submitting it.

Probably normal in the sense that many people can't resist the temptation to write far too much about extenuating circumstances! :)

I'm going to review it again today before sending and see if can consolidate it. It's very difficult though!

Writing "was ill on the day" just first seem enough so you try to explain what with and why and who said what etc etc "just in case"!

Thanks again Etienne

Hi

I have finally received my pack today and date for 4th June.

Bit concerned and wondered if others have noticed the same or could advise but only some of my evidence is included. For example I submitted drs letter, class teachers and a headmasters letter, med reports, work examples and school reports. But they have only copied into the pack the headmasters letter, one report and one piece of work, leaving out all medical stuff which is one of my main reasons for appeal.

They have only submitted appendixs 1, 2 and 3 so hoping that's a clue that haven't resent everything perhaps just first three items but worried now that may have been lost and will have to gather it all again before half term next week !

Thanks debby

ALL the evidence should definitely have been included. Contact the Clerk to the Independent Appeals Panel or whoever is acting on their behalf as soon as possible to ask whether they have the evidence and, if so, why it has not been included, and if not, how to make sure it is before the Panel in good time.

That's what my thoughts were, it's of because have only included appendix 1, 2 and 3 bit there were more listed and detailed on my form ad obviously included?

I will email today and call on Monday. Really stressed now as will only have next week before holidays then I'm in front of the panel.

So frustrating and dreading them saying its been lost :-(
