hi everyone
this my first post

my girl got 201 pass in 11+ we put King Edward Handsworth as our first choice. but we allocated george dixon! :(

anyone think appealing a good idea or is her pass mark too low for them considering her. we fit all the other criteria we live a mere 5 minute walk away from the school. she is currently a 5a in eng/maths...

has anyone got experience of appealing to KE????

The first thing you can do at this stage is to find out where you are on the waiting list by phoning the KE Foundation office and asking them. The cut off score for Handsworth was 215 so you are quite a long way off that at the moment.

There may be some waiting list movement if any Handsworth offers are rejected in favour of independents, or if places become available at Five Ways or Camp Hill and girls who had expressed a higher preference for one of those switch to those, thus releasing the places they are currently holding at Handsworth. However the schools do offer more places than they actually have available, knowing that some will be rejected, so there may not be much movement as further places will not be offered until the number of rejections exceeds the number of over-offers.

To appeal would need to produce very good evidence of why the 201 score wasn't representative - academic evidence and/or particular circumstances which may have affected the score. Historically there is little chance on appeal in Birmingham compared to what you may have read from other areas. Read this thread.
