I would like to appeal for 11+ under Fair access protocols.
I am not sure I have right to use it or not please advise on this fair access protocols.
My child is registered as a young carer.
Any input welcome.

Welcome! :)

Interesting question - and not one that has been raised on here before.

Could you first say what you're appealing against?
Is it just oversubscription?
Or is it non-qualification as well?

Thank you for your quick reply Etienne.

My child past the 11+ mark.
So I believe that it is oversubscription and out of catchment area.

Thanks.
A few more questions. (Sorry!)

Is the school in question under Local Authority control, or is it an academy?
Did you mention your circumstances on the CAF form when you applied?
Is the school in question the nearest grammar school?
I can see that attending a nearby local school could be very helpful for a young carer, but how would it help to attend an out of catchment school? (Or is the grammar school, although out of catchment, quite close?)

Thank you Etienne.
It is for CCHG and it is for nearest Local academy school.
No I did not mention in CAF form because I did not know.
Yes Local academy school is near but we got refused so we have to fight for the best.
The offered school is unsafe and takes nearly same time as grammar school to and from school beside it's easy get to grammar school bus pick up point .

Please Etienne help me.
It all my faults: did not let her has tutor, did not put in right CAF form.
I apply for the nearest local academy school for her but was refused.
She was upset so I start to do research and find out that to get to and from the grammar school is safer and easier than the offered school.
The offered school has specialism in sport which she is not into sport.
She is on top table of Maths and English and managed to past the 11+ test with any help form family and not tutored.

If I put in the appeal form wrong grounds will I loose the case?
This time I want to make it right.

OK. Here goes ...... :)

Fair Access is at the discretion of the Local Authority, and is really meant for vulnerable children without a school place (or who would have to travel a wholly unreasonable distance to get to school).
Moreover, I don't think a parent could select which school is to be allocated, not least because the LA will need to spread the extra children around, so that no one school is required to take a disproportionate number.

I do think an appeal panel would be sympathetic if you mention that your daughter is a carer, but your best course of action is to focus on why the grammar school would be a good match for her.
See:

Read the Q&As, especially section C (oversubscribed schools):

If you need more time to fill in your appeal form, see:

If I put in the appeal form wrong grounds will I loose the case?

I wouldn't have thought so. They ought to ask questions, as I have done, to understand your circumstances and why you want a place at the school.
The offered school has specialism in sport which she is not into sport
Better to focus on what the school you want can offer.

OP - Just out of interest, do you mean Chelmsford County High School for Girls, or Colchester?(Apologies if it's some completely different school with the same initials and not in Essex).

Did you name the grammar school first on your CAF, then the non-selective school that you wanted, or did you put the non-selective school first?

ToadMum
They are both in Essex.
Does it matter that I put grammar first or Local first?
If you have any advise please tell.
