Kent test fail - total score 349
My son failed the Kent Test with a total score of 349 (minimum required for a pass 320).
He got 130 in Maths and 125 in Reasoning but only 94 in the English paper - the minimum required for each paper is 106.
Is it worth appealing - we accept would only be to TWGSB. His school support an appeal and believe he will be a level 5 by end of year 6 for Literacy and Reading as well as a good level 6 in Maths and Science.
Feel compelled to appeal but reluctant to face him with any more disappointment.
Advice please???

Level 5 is rather vague for appeal purposes - it covers a very wide range from 5c to 5a.saffy wrote:His school support an appeal and believe he will be a level 5 by end of year 6 for Literacy and Reading as well as a good level 6 in Maths and Science.
Why does he need to know?Feel compelled to appeal but reluctant to face him with any more disappointment.

The lower a score, the more difficult it might be - but it depends how strong your case is going to be, including all the academic evidence:Is it worth appealing

Give it a whirl. The English was weird. 138 equalled 24/24
118 equalled 20 / 24
Do you know what your son's raw score was?
English was the first half an hour.

I would go for it: his Maths mark is very Good, also Reasoning. English was new to the test this year and every incorrect answer made a huge difference to the result. Don't tell DS you are appealing... Good lucksaffy wrote:My son failed the Kent Test with a total score of 349 (minimum required for a pass 320).
