Passed 12 Plus but no school place

Hi,
I wonder if anyone could offer some advice. My Daughter scored 112 in the 11 plus so missed out on the chance of going to the local grammar school. We sent her to a school aproximately 8 miles away which she travels via bus at a cost of £30 per week. She has now passed the 12 plus but the school we would like her to attend is full. We are looking to appeal for a place but really dont know where to start in terms of what we need to bring to the appeal.
We obviously have the travelling distance of her current school vs being able to walk to the local GS, Her brother has now passed the 11 plus and will be attending the school from September 2015. We are really unhappy with the level of achievement at her current school I have met with the head of year regarding the lack of quality homework etc. Her levels we all 5a-b's when leaving primary and are currently 6a-6b in most subjects except science which is a 5a and there seems to be little progress in this subject. We obviously want her to attend the best school she can but also being close to home would really make a difference to her both academically and she takes part in sports clubs where ever she can being captain of the netball and rounders team which proves difficult to juggle to allow her to do this at her current school as often as she would like as the bus only leaves once and both myself and my husband both work full time.
Just looking to see if anyone has been through this or has some pointers where to start
Many Thanks
