Are SATs standardised?

I am the parent of a child at an independent school who do not do SATs and to help my appeal I wanted to use the argument that his class averages are not standardised like SATs. Am I correct? SATs are marked according to your month of birth? Thanks.

I believe not, Mel. QCA does have tables for age standardising, but they are not actually used to allocate the levels.

No, Sats are not standardised, they are used to measure the actual level of achievement.

We are always given our child's level, plus an age standardised score (with 100 being average, and generally 140 being maximum) for each written paper. So the answer is yes (for the 'numbers') and no (for the levels)

What are their 'numbers'? Their score in the tests? With 100 being the average?

, you get a "raw` score" which is the actual marks gained. This is then standardised.
The standardised scores are then in table relating to level.
This is for maths science etc. Writing is different
