whsg appeal advice please

my daughter got 301 the pass mark was 303, she came 145th . last year westcliff (essex) took 154 girls. her school have said we should appeal and that they would support us and write reports etc she is predicted 5a in stats and her reports school work are excellent. do you think we would have a chance of appeal and what do we need to do to start the appeal off. we have already written to the school and asked to be put on their waiting list. would be great if someone could advise as we are so confused!! many thanks
