Hi

The deadline for most appeals in Birmingham has now gone - have you missed these deadlines or have you already sent in your appeal?

my hubby's posted the paperwork for the appeal, but hes left me to take care of everything... and you really couldn't put a more incompetent person in charge as i really am clueless! and there seem so much to read through and where to begin!!

A scared old bag!

CATS are cognitive ability tests- some schools do them, some don't - you can use high scores to show your child is able.

PAN - planned admission number - how many the school 'says' it has room for in each year group.

Read the stickies at the top of this section - they really are very helpful! Don't worry we were all new to this one

To Old-Bag,

You might want to ask KenR on the Birminghan forum about advice particular to the King Edward Foundation which isn't run on the same lines as many of the grammar schools down south.

Looking on the King Edward Foundation report for 2007, I'm afraid it states that of the 165 appeals, only 4 were granted in 2006. Not great odds.

I'm not sure academic evidence will be enough unless it is exceptional. It is so hard to gain a KE school that many level 5 children don't pass the entrance.

Best wishes, anyway.
