I certainly would not want to make anyone panic unnecessarily but I have now heard several rumours that there are plans to turn Alcester Grammar into a sixth form college and thereby leave the town without a grammar school.
I know that the existing Head seems to have a bit of an attitude problem towards grammar schools and that the sixth form has been vastly expanded under his auspices (to the detriment of academic standards according to Ofsted) but surely our caring and democratic education authority cannot be plotting to get rid of grammar school provision in Alcester?????
