For any interested parties, on RHS newsletter this week:

"The school’s governors are required to review admissions arrangements to the school on an annual basis. The governing body approved draft arrangements for 2011 at their meeting on 8th December. These arrangements are now out for consultation and are downloadable from our website. The consultation period ends on 28th February 2010. If you have any comments that you would like to make about the arrangements, you should write to either the Chair of Governors, Peter Reaney, at the school or to me. Alternatively, you can email me: martenc@rugbyhighschool.co.uk. All the comments received during the consultation period will be taken into account before final arrangements are agreed and published in March 2010.

The draft 2011 arrangements are in keeping with those agreed for 2010 (which were the subject of an adjudication by the Office of the Schools Adjudicator). Students are ranked in accordance with their performance in the 11 plus examination (CEM Centre designed tests). The first 50% of places are allocated to students living anywhere within the old priority circle. The second 50% of places will be allocated to those living in East Warwickshire."

I am a little confused about areas. Can Coventry kids go to Rugby grammar schools? Our part of Coventry is within the outer circle geographically, but as everyone is very keen to point out to me Coventry is not in Warwickshire, or indeed East Warwickshire. (although some of us are actually quite pleasant and fairly civilised!!) :) . Therefore we are not in the East Warwickshire areas described but are within the little map? Any clues?

Yes some Coventry kids can go to Rugby Grammars, if your address falls inside the "Old priority circle" as shown on the map your children can opt for the first 50% of the places, according to the current admission policy

See this, it shows the original catchment area in yellow and the new area 1 in pink within that. You should be able to zoom in and see exactly where you are on this. The red line is the border between Warwickshire and Northamptonshire. Interestingly the pink area follows this line exactly.
