Can anyone explain exactly how this will work? I know the exam is early sept And the results will be available earlier but will a pass guarantee a place? Is it going to be like some areas where a pass just means you go into the lottery for places?

AFAIK the only difference to previous years is that you will know the scores before applying, so that you can make your choices on the basis of the scores - it will still be the highest scores first.

The 2013 admissions consultation doc put out by Stratford Girls certainly seem to suggest this - and I can't see it being any different for the others.

Ah ok thank you. I cannot really see the benefit then? Surely everyone will still put the schools in the same order in the hope they get a waiting place list etc...

I'd guess that the intention is to stop people wasting one or more of their choices if they already know they've got a score which would be unlikely to get them a place. That would explain why they're also apparently (at least in Birmingham - don't know about Warwickshire) going to publish what the lowest scores for admission were for the last couple of years. Although with the expansion of places this year for most of the Warwickshire schools that probably wouldn't really be incredibly useful data anyway.

Thanks, yes you are right I suppose and I guess at least you know earlier if their scores are low.
