Waiting lists

Post by ARC1970 »

Does anyone know very roughly how many people who are on a waiting list get it.

For example, is it traditionally just one or two on the waiting list who eventually get a place or a dozen or so?

Many thanks

Hello

I just asked a similar question on a different thread. oops! I would like to know this too. If your dc gets onto a waiting list, what are the chances of them getting a place??

Hope this is helpful...

For current Yr8's the waiting list for KES was 23 boys (back in March 2011). They only offered 75 places despite having 81 available; so 6 from the 23 would then have automatically got offered a place. Which leaves 17 boys. And I was told that they put 23 on the waiting list because that was the number of places that they believed they could realistically offer on the 2nd round.

Obviously it's different this year: they will place 81 at first round of offers (rather than 75), and I assume there will be fewer boys taking the test from the Birmingham area (because of the date change). So a best guest could be 10-12?

No one got a place off the RHS waiting list last year as all offered places were accepted, and 2 got in on appeal.

The geography of Stratford/Alcester -> Birmingham compared to Rugby -> Birmingham probably means that there will be more movement on the Southern area waitnign lists than the Eastern ones.

This might help with the southern area,
2011 entry:
AGS:
Total on waiting list = 33
Waiting list minimum score = 323
Number of offers made from w/l = 21

SGGS:
Total on waiting list = 26
Waiting list minimum score = 322
Number of offers made from w/l = 14

2012 entry:
AGS:
Total on waiting list = 51
Waiting list minimum score = 319
Number of offers made from w/l = 23

SGGS:
Total on waiting list = 33
Waiting list minimum score = 320
Number of offers made from w/l = 23

Thanks Qwe, very helpful. In the example above, was 319 the minimum score to be included on the waiting list, or the lowest score where an offer was made from w/l? If it were the latter, that would be even more interesting.

319 was the minimum score to be included NOT lowest score where an offer was made.
