New to 11+ Need Help with Tutor in Coventry Area

Post by manps007 »

Hi all,

I am a newbie parent to this forum. A few quick things, if anyone could offer some advise. My child is sitting for 11+ next yr.

1. We are trying to find a good tutor in our area. We have tried a couple, but they are not so experienced in getting kids prepared for the eleven plus exams. if anyone could personal message me about any suggestions or previous experience with a tutor - that would be greatly appreciated.

2. I was readin through the Warwckshire forum, and read Okanagan's post about the format of the warwikshire exam possibly changing to the CEM format used in Birmingham selective schools. Can anyone confirm if there are going to be changes ??

Your help is much appreciated.

We try to keep the forum as safe as possible - we don't allow tutors to be openly recommended, because it attracts posts with fake recommendations ('dodgy' advertising solely designed to solicit business on the internet).
It is also not unknown for unscrupulous competitors to 'plant' posts seeking to denigrate the opposition!

Genuine recommendations from forum members by PM only (private message) are permitted - but be aware of the possibility that someone who appears to be a 'helpful parent' offering advice may not be all they seem! There could be an ulterior motive.

Always treat recommendations from unknown persons with great caution.
However, we have many long standing members (check carefully the date of joining and number of posts) who make a very valuable contribution to the forum. If you receive a private recommendation from one of them, it could be worth considering.

Please let us know if you think anyone is abusing the system by soliciting for business or 'spamming'.
It's easy to report a possible problem - just click on the red exclamation mark that appears with every post and PM: Image

We don't have further any news about the possibility of Birmingham and Warwickshire tests being combined - although actually the change would be more in the way it is scored than the actual content, so from your perspective it wouldn't affect the way you need to prepare anyway.

However as Warwickshire and Birmingham have already separately announced exam dates for this year (although they happen to be the same, with Warwickshire offering a 2nd date for those taking the Birmingham exam), then you can be fairly confident that any change would not in any case affect the 2014 admissions round - i.e. those taking the exams this year.
