I know its not subtle but I couldn't help it - Facebook! the 'likes' and 'comments' have gone nuclear meltdown! :)
We don't do FB, but I bet it's fantastic at times like this!
I have promised myself I won't put on fb, it's going to be hard if it's good news but I promised...........
Bet you are getting some lovely comments silly goose, enjoy, you deserve it!

Hi Sailor18 - did you put AGS first and are you in the priority area? and where have you been given?

We put KES first AGS second, we were told we were in catchment for both, offered Henley in Arden

Oh heck, we did the same, so if your score is Below AQS for first choice but Above AQS for second choice, you won't get your second choice? I didn't realise this! We are catchment for both these schools, but just metres away from AGS which we put second. On results posted so far we are within AQS for AGS but not KES, which we put first.

that's not quite right - there won;t be separate scores for 1st and 2nd choice. Is S18 doesn't get KES then AGS would be considered to be first choice and if score is OK and in area then should be OK (are you in area? sorry haven't lived there for 35 years!!)

I thought it did not matter the order in which you placed your preferences, or have I got that wrong

Yes, we live in alcester, just 200 yds from AGS and 15 mins from KES. Easily within catchment for both.

We were advised that putting a grammar first had no effect on you getting in the non-grammar you put after it as if you didn't qualify the non-grammar moved up to 1st choice automatically. Not sure how that applies to putting 2 grammars 1st though.

We put Henley as 2nd choice after AGS as it is a fantastic school, it really impressed and its performance has been climbing year on year. I particularly like how they focussed on 'proper' subjects and not some of the fairy ones some other schools use to cook the results tables a bit.

If DS had got a place there instead I certainly wouldn't be unhappy.
