AGS Extra class of places in 2016 now 2015 too!!

Post by Sillygoose »

I don't know if its been mentioned here yet, but AGS has published a desire to add an extra class for the 2016 intake increasing it from 120 to 150. It is currently only a consultation but contains the wording

"For 2016, the Governors have determined, in line with the Admissions Code (2012), that the Published Admission Number (PAN) in Year 7 will be 150."

This is good news as of course the more grammar places the better, I am especially excited at the proposal as I have another child I want to go there in 2016 so it can only help the odds.

The letter from school today says the increase will be in 2015... might be a typo though...

Yes.. but it also says 2015 now on the website too.

http://www.alcestergs.co.uk/page/?title ... nts&pid=27" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I think this is NEW and could be critical to people that are waiting to hear if the have got places as the AQS for AGS will now be lower.

Basically the letter says that AGS is short of 6 formers for various reasons and as they get income from each child in school will end up short of money, they are filling up the school with more year 7's instead.

I bet they have some large financial commitments after all the new buildings and this seem a wise move ensure they can keep their income up, they are never going to be short of yr 7's wanting a place no matter how many they offer!

The letter is definitely not a typo. I checked with the school.

The website could make it a little clearer though that the decision to accept 150 children for the 2015 intake now supercedes the existing Admissions Policy for that year.

Governors can increase the PAN without consultation. So they might have decided to increase the places from the current year. Good news.

Just read through and it does indicate an increase to 150 from 2016.
