Brilliant.

Ice broken, open season on flu discussion. :)

Kids are picking up on the news headlines and need grounding in, don't panic, we have all had a dose of the flu and lived happily...

splendid cartoon!

Images of the week so far -
box of masks arriving from PCT,
dusty packet of (still in date) Tamiflu found,
ENDLESS faxes coming off the printer with the latest changes in protocols,
Valium for the health protection agency nurse who lost the plot this afternoon,
a large glass of vino for my colleague running around with swabs this morning,
relief that the whole thing ain't as bad as we thought
concern that this is just how it started in 1918 - cold winter - mild flu in spring and the mega pandemic returning in the autumn

Now Sally-Anne, tell the truth - is that the original version you got or has it been doctored?

Mine didn't read quite the same as yours and wasn't suitable for posting

We were in the main post office today when dd started complaining of feeling ill (known as mumIwantyitis) when I suggested she might have swineflu the lady in front nearly choked laughing.

Glad we can laugh - perhaps we should start stockpigging sorry, I mean stockpiling of course

That is my current reading, but with anti-viral drugs and hopefully a vaccine plus antibiotics to fight secondary infections, plus a modern information and health service, I see a much more positive outcome than in previous pandemics. :)

Hopefully it will be better than 1918 - that was the combination of a nasty virus + nowt to treat it with. There will be a significant death rate, as there always is every year with flu, but as high as 1918

Sure they do. along with elephants and cats and dogs (but they only go in a downwards motion).
