Music advice- again!

DS has decided to take up the clarinet after having a trial run on the teachers for a week. Actually it was me who had the trial run but DS picked it up and was composing his on tunes in minutes! Someone once said to me (may have been on here ) that when you find the instrument for you then it clicks. Well it seems to be the clarinet for DS although he is not giving up that Bassoon which our sweat, tears and money have already gone into!
So now I know I can blow the mouthpiece I have decided to take up the saxophone, mainly because the fingering is very similar to the recorder and my brain can only do so much - clarinet far more complicated. I have noticed online that there are alto, tenor and baritone saxophones and I am clueless at which one to buy. I basically want the "normal" one and also one that DS could play if he chooses to steal my limelight with that instrument too. I also need to know what reed strength to buy for both instruments.
I'd be grateful for any advice but I do need to purchase the sax today as it is on special offer finishing today, thanks!
