Subjects a school offers

Post by sherry_d »

Just looked today at our nearest grammar which was in the papers recently for achieving the best GCSE results in England and I am in

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/education/ed ... exams.html

I had hoped she would have had her students take tougher subjects before calling for tougher exams. :P

I looked at the most popular subjects at GCSE (in brackets is number of students who took test)
ICT - 48
Mathematics - 36
Business studies -32
Additional science - 28
English - 27

A level
General Studies 161
English - 50
Biology - 46
History - 37
RE - 35
Psychology -26
Applied Business studies 31

It seems league tables just look at the passes and dont look at the subjects taken and I think its very misleading to say this is the best academic state school.

The figures here seem a bit strange - surely all students should be taking English & Maths GCSE at a GS so how are the numbers less than for ICT. Also a bit confused about the info re science?
