I was at University in London - blissfully unaware of anything much!

Spent the time just after qualifying tootling round the pubs of derbyshire - having to divert because of police road blocks / flying pickets / miners demos ...etc etc - still didn't really impact!

Happy Mac was PM when I was born - "you never had it so good"

I was working for the Coal Board in early 80's and some of our scientists went to man the coke ovens (not me I was a mere girlie)

I started in '74 and had my interview on one of the 2 days without power that week, had to be shown round materials science lab by torchlight...

oh yes - the 3 day week - I was at KEHS with extra woolies and trousers and thermals.

Plus the gas lights in the corridors being used (put in when the school was built in 1944) - I expect they have gone now.

Pates was always freezing so we never really noticed a difference!
