Brilliant research and a nice story!
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/7890 ... nkers.html
This loosely relates to a recent thread about arachnophobia, but what I like about it is that the children took a well known "old wives tale", put it to the test using sound scientific processes, succeeded in disproving the theory and were honoured at the highest levels for their work!
Some might suggest that they were able to work on such project because they didn't have to cram for a science SAT exam, but I wouldn't dream of being so controversial.
Anyone care to put the story about St Swithin's Day to the test?

Re: Brilliant research and a nice story!
Marylou, could you please point me in the direction of the arachnophobia thread?
And does anyone know what spiders are afraid of? (Please don't say humans; there is no way any large spider is as afraid of me as I am of it! )

Stevew61 beat me to it.
No, I never bought that line about them being more afraid of you than you are of them, either!KS10 wrote:Marylou, could you please point me in the direction of the arachnophobia thread?
