There is also an extract from a Cambridge uni mag giving the top 10. I think Sherry_D posted it somewhere.

(Congrats PheasantChick for being really sad)

I'd like to take the credit, but please thank Sherry, as she forwarded it to me recently.

I think the varsity link is quite misleading as it shows numbers, not percentages that get into Cambridge. The sixth form college in Cambridge takes 900 (1800 over two years) each year for A'level which makes it's percentage of candidates pretty low. Most schools do not even take 900 pupils in the entire school.

Thanks Sherry.
Sorry for calling you Peasant, Pheasantchick. I have, incidentally, a rather dopey pheasant seemed to have come to live in my garden over last few days. I don't think it can fly as just scurries into undergrowth if disturbed. Bless.
WFG - yes, certainly puts their numbers into context. Largest indie I looked at had fewer pupils in the total of all 5 year groups!

There are only a small number of inde's that get a good percentage into Oxbridge and the rest are lucky if they get 5 and exceptionally so if they get 10! I think it shows that Oxbridge do know what they are doing when it comes to admissions. The indes and GS with the most pupils being sent are highly selective so it is not a surprise.
