My dd had her Omega 3 Vitamins in January and stopped. I just wanted to know whether is it good to start to
take the same vitamins again or do we have to leave a gap of 6 months ? Please could anyone advice me on this
matter and I hope these vitamins help her for the 11 plus exam. Thanks.

Not sure why you would leave a gap of sixth months? If they are good for her, they are good for her. Mine took them for years until I read Ben Goldacre's "Bad Science" - a fascinating book, btw. He says that the only evidence is from the company making one of the supplements, see this:
http://www.badscience.net/2006/09/the-t ... te-itself/

My personal view is that if they don't do any harm... However these supplements are very expensive.

Maybe Herman will be along soon...

Herman read a paper on it years ago and hasn't checked since  at the time the paper was about children with some elements of learning difficulty and in the lower 50% of IQ (ie below the mean), or was it ADHD (will check) ????. The Fish Oil supplements did help these children in concentration and attainment. (supported by the maunfacturers I thin - will try and find the reference)

Trouble is you can't extrapolate to children of above mean intelligence ... that the problem with lots of things - just because a drug/ treatment works for one group (age, gender, race, parity, genetic risk, height, weight etc) doesn't mean it can work for others....

Seemed to be de rigeur at DDs prep to be taking Omega 3 (except DD  ) -

I just prescribe fish oils (Omacor) for people who have had heart attacks, where there is evidence that it improves survival and reduces risk of another ... doesn't however show benefit (yet ) in prevention in those who have not had a heart attack, in the same way you cannot extrapolate.
