Big fish, small pondin schools or vice versa?

Thanks again for all of your posts. I think we have a plan...
DS is going to try for brother's school and if he gets in then he'll go there. If he doesn't then he is going to try for a specialist music school. It's something I have been against but given his personality I think it will be the best environment for him socially. This is a generalisation, but in my limited experience I feel these schools have much lower rates of drink and drugs and he needs to develop in as safe an environment as possible as he is very impressionable. But of course, he may not get in!
