That's awful! Somehow it also seems worse because it happened in the private sector.

All I meant was that you hear less reports of this type of yobbish behaviour from private/independent/prep schools so somehow the impact of the report seemed greater to me. There are far more reports of stabbings/bullying etc in inner city-type schools (I know I'm stereotyping here), so when you hear something form the private sector, it seems to have greater impact.

However, bullying occurs in all camps, and is not acceptable anywhere.

Could that possibly be because only 7% of the relevant population is in private/ independent/prep sector?

I think it's irrelevant. The man was doused with bleach, and that is wrong. Peaceful protest, I am happy with. This sort of thing is terrible.. It really doesn't matter what the job of the victim is.
