Re: The Olympics - London 2012
I read in the Evening Standard (a London paper) that the bells will be 'bonged' manually by brakes being lifted off the bells.
Maybe they're so bleedin heavy that the bell-bonger-people (or whatever they're called!) can only ring them 14 times a minute from 8.12am to 8.15am? This signals that there will be only 12 hours to go.
(inky admits that she can't wait to see the opening ceremony on telly and the inkypinkyponkys have Olympic Park tickets for Sunday - just want to experience being there! )

Research has shown that the limit of human tolerance, listening to a cacophony of random bells, mobile phones making daft imitations of bells, burglar and fire alarms, domestic bells in the shape of various animals, and small children making bell-like noises can be expressed in a quotient known as bell tolerance (BT). It is most easily expressed as being equivalent to 42 rings of Big Ben. BT=42(BB).Looking for help wrote:Why 42 times, does anybody know ?

Re: The Olympics - London 2012
We have tickets to Wimbledon on Tuesday - just checked the forecast there and it looks set to rain (thought i was really lucky and had court no 1 tickets for £20 a pop until I got the e-mail saying thanks for buying ground tickets , so we will probably see nothing of any interest, and will be rained upon to boot), and also for the semi final of the men's football at Wembley. All well and good, till we realised OH is in the US on business, I can't go due to work commitments, so older son (aged 21) and a friend were going to take younger son (aged 14) and a friend. Now older son is going to another friend's 21st in Ireland instead, and the battle is on - younger son wants to take 3 friends and travel across London to and from Wembley.
I have said no. Bad mother

I just love how people are so miserable and moan about everything and anything.
