Anybody else got snow this morning?

It's still snowing here in Coventry (around 5cm so far), but apparently it's raining a few miles down the road in Stratford... hence DD is a bit confused as to why I'm asking if school is closing early!

I grew up in Coventry. I swear it had its own microclimate which involved snow when the rest of the country didn't have it. I walked 6 miles from school in it once, when the buses were cancelled. In those days they didn't shut the schools the second a snowflake fluttered over the Met Office.

snowing here too in northwest london and it's finally settling about 1/2 an inch so far!

Snowing steadily in South Herts, but taking its time to settle.

Not much, mostly raining now.
Our head teacher would only shut the school if WW three broke out. (Or has happened a a couple of years ago, Wokingham council TOLD all schools they had to close the following day, despite the fact there was no snow forecast)

When I were a lass, in deepest West Yorkshire, even in heavy school the school only closed if the teacher/pupil ratio was too extreme for the teachers to deal with. Timetable abandoned in favour of table tennis, cards, other such games or reading in the main hall.

Shame schools dont think to do this now.

It's settled! Got to go and pick up dd from school. No point in having snow unless you get a snow day out of it. Every day is a snow day for me since giving up work so the novelty has worn off. I'm a grumpy old f**t today!
