Well, I'm nowhere near as learned as most who frequent this site but thought I'd add my favourites anyway! :)
There are many, many to choose from but I love Bill Bryson, I've actually laughed out loud on a train at his writing. One of my favourites is A Christmas Past. Many, many years ago in my late teens, I would read a lot of Stephen King books, I hadn't read any of his work for years but a recent one caught my eye in a book shop, '11-22-63', both my teenage DS and myself couldn't put the book down & had to argue over whose turn it was to read as he insisted on reading it at the same time as me!!
I really could name so many but haven't had an awful lot of time to read much in the last couple of years, oh, I thought the 'Call the midwife' set were a good read though.
