Thanks everyone! It seems the scrubbing is unavoidable whether it's the children or the collars! Not tried fairy liquid though and short sleeves - cant believe I didn't think of that!

I love this thread! I've also bought John Lewis shirts this year and so far, they seem great. Definitely the best I've had in a long time. Will also invest in some short sleeve shirts, as I find usually the cuffs are worse than the collars. Have no problems with dd's shirts as they are cream and short sleeved, thereby covering a multitude of sins!

Another vote for John Lewis shirts.
Don't do what some of DDs friends parents have done, and wash them with the new school jumper.

Which is red.

And the dye runs.

I haven't taken to scrubbing, but do use the sainsburys version of stain remover for whites (exactly the same stuff as the branded stuff btw) in the wash.

my solution was lots of cheap shirts ( for children) so that they could change every day, tbh never found the cuffs and collars got that dirty. Socks , however...., really should have cleaned my floors more!

When DD started GS she could wear white, grey or black socks. Six years of white socks at primary have traumatised me. She has grey ones. I cut out the middle man. She is banned from white socks.

Not so much floors, as sand pits, walking around the park with no shoes on, need. I go on?
