Frustrated of Reading - windows 8 help

Post by Tinkers »

So, being a good girl, I regularly back up our laptops to external hard disks, which we normally keep at work.

Mac is easy. Plug it in and it falls over itself to be helpful, it does it itself. It backs up what it needs to backup, quietly with no fuss.

Windows Hate (my nickname for it) is another kettle of fish completely.

I've yet to find how you get it to do back ups, without copying and pasting the various folders I need to back up.
I've googled for help and all I get is sites to download apps to do backups.

Surely there is a built in thing for this, and I'm being really really thick and can't find it.

Can someone help before the stupid thing gets thrown against something hard.

I absolutely loathe the Win8 interface. Last time I needed to log in to one I had to google how to log out of the d*mn thing. It's no wonder you couldn't find the backup:

Thanks for that, the MS 'help' was no help as usual. That explains it better.

And to think I doubted DH when he wanted to buy the mac book.

Normally I never touch the windows 8 laptop.

Eta: now backing up. Why call it file history? Why not something obvious like 'back up'?
