Having got rid of lots of bamboo last year, (I shredded the last remaining bits), we've decided in a moment of madness to attack another large clump that is getting out of hand.

So any new ideas of what to do with bamboo, since I still haven't found anyone with a pet panda...

Can you not pot the plants and sell locally?

It's impossible to dig up with a spade (we tried when a neighbour wanted some), needs a mattock to hack it out. The result is not something you could pot up and sell. The stuff I'm trying to get rid of now is also partly in a hedge, so even more difficult to dig out.

Plus this stuff is a complete and utter thug, and I couldn't have a clear conscience selling it on.
It's massive, 3m high, and spreads, which is the reason I'm trying to get rid of it.

Did I mention it's a thug.

Burns lovely when dry but has to be chopped up, otherwise the enclosed sections explode quite loudly.

And when I say quite loudly, it's an understatement. sometimes I do it just for the effect.
