Admissions code

Post by Guest »

I have heard from 3 parents independently that the government is to mess around with the admissions code yet again. The plan is to get rid of the sibling policy for all schools. Has anyone else heard this or is it just a nasty little rumour that is doing the rounds??

admissions code

I thought it was something along the lines of not allowing selective schools to give priority admission to siblings who do not meet the academic selection criteria. At some schools, being a sibling means you do not have to score as well as other children who do not already have a sibiling at the school.

I am not sure what document this is in, or if this is accurate, but it is what I have heard, and it does make sense, although it would make life harder for some.

There's also supposed to be a new Appeals Code of Practice...

The main changes are that a lot of the 'should's have been turned into 'must's - better for all concerned.
