Volunteering for 13 yo

Post by Yamin151 »

Hi

My 13 year old son is looking for volunteering opportunities, preferably animal related, but I'm wondering if there are restrictions on someone of his age officially volunteering.
He's phoned a few catteries who haven't been that helpful, I'd love to be able to encourage him with a bit more info.
Thanks

Yes, we found that many places had a minimum age.

Our local Council has an area on the website where volunteering opportunities are listed.

Try here:

Have you tried local riding schools/ stables. All the ones I know around us take from 10.

A few more ideas. These are for the summer and for older children but may be applicable for a young teen and at other times of the year.

the only animal related activity we could find for 13 yo DD's DofE was Cinnamon Trust but I had to accompany her on all dog walks. We tried all sorts and this was the best option as we didn't have enough free time to get involved at a stables.
