Dressing up day at school

..and another one of those!!
As much as I can see the point of organising dressing up days in school, with my son being in Year 6, I started dreading them. Obviously he does not get as envolved as he used to be in his earlier years and that does not help.
This time I have to transform him into a book character.
Any ideas? I do not want him to be Harry Potter and do not want to buy any of those dreadful Woolworths outfits.
Pls help!

I have the same with my DD, found the letter in her school bag this morning, it had been in there over half term!
She doesn't even want to dress up! She will stretch to Hermione (can't spell it!) but at 11 it is difficult, dressing up outfits look very childish, My son has an old blazer, so we thought a sort of "adapted hogworts uniform!
My DD hates all that sort of thing, never wanted to make easter bonnets etc! So it will be a nightmare for us too!

Dracula (or Darren Shan, The vampires assistant if they have read any of the books).... particularly good if they fancy wandering around school all day with fangs and fake blood.
It's really hard when they reach Y6.... they just don't want to go to all the hassle.

My son goes as James Bond, black blazer, black trousers and tie and ultra cool sunglasses, mobile phone and any other gadgets he can find.

Could also pull of 'men in black' with this, adding dark glasses

"Just William" ?? - droopy long socks with catapult, school cap (awry), long shorts and grubby knees.... Boys book characters are more difficult especially one they've all done Harry Potter.
Good practice for teenage parties - we've had a batch of fancy dress ones recently (including "heroes & villains" - James Bond lives again). They also have a fancy dress day as part of the year 11 leavers celebration at our local school, but I admit to finding the fancy dress hire stall in the Birmingham Rag Market invaluable by that stage!
