DS will start travelling to GS in September and I anticipate it will be about an hour each way - but no choice as that is where the grammar schools are (not whinging just that is the situation) - however he is used to the length of days. Currently does 8.15 a.m. to 5.20 p.m. twice a week and earlier/later 3 days a week because of cricket. Then has to fit prep in on top.

He has been tired at the beginning of the Autumn term - just getting used to the routine again - but he soon gets used to it. Think that actually with the travelling he will have more down time as I imagine the bus journey is more of a social time.

Excellent - the more chance to meet new people and make new friends the better. Just got to get over leaving current school - as it is prep going on to year 8 and number of his friends aren't leaving and as he has a little brother reporting what his old friends will be up to I think this is going to be quite hard for him. Ho hum!

Same here for DS. I don't think he would have become so much more outgoing and more confident meeting new people if it wasn't for the coach journey. We can be walking in town and a boy (young man) will say hi, I ask who it is - "oh just a year 10 from the bus".
