so is Gove the worst thing that's happened to education or the best.

Reading comments guardian readers seem to think the worst.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/education/2013/jun/12/michael-gove-gcse-plans
and telegraph best.
http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/jamesdelingpole/100221722/simon-schama-gove-should-hurl-him-off-the-tarpeian-rock/
aas do most presenters on LBC including Julia Hartley-Brewer

I personally think the worst and that what is being taught is fine and the problem is in having multiple exam boards and marking thats possibly too lenient.

regarding History, which seems to be what most of the telegraph readers are discussing.. fine, for primary and early secondary teach some key dates and facts, but for gcse.. History should also teach you about analysis and separating the truth from the fiction in history, remember most history is written by the winners, looking at cause and effect etc..

anyway..

Not worse than the previous hypocrites.

Remember the Education Secretary who presented the bill to kill the grammar education and when time came, send her own daughter to the surviving grammar, even though at the time she was living out of catchment.

Or the one who, as Education Secretary, kept on praising the state schools, but sent her own son to the indie.

Gove at least is making efforts about raising the standard of education. Labour, unfortunately, made tall claims but miserably failed the able children. If wish the Government, of whichever political party, allows establishment of more grammar schools in state sector. Merely allowing expansion is not enough.

Diane Abbott publically attacked other MP's for sending their dc's to private schools and then when her ds reached 11 she did it herself. DG

Just read that post again - she wasn't Education Secretary though.
