Can someone tell me where I can find details of KS3 SATS levels at secondary school? If there is such a thing, what level would be expected for grammar school DC on maths, English, sciences etc.?

I remember, on here somewhere, reading that language SATS levels were lower than, say, maths or English, because learning languages was new for so many people.

There won't be any recent SATS levels for Year 9 as the Year 9 SATS exams were abolished long ago.
However, you can still compare nc (national curriculum) levels that a teacher may assign a child based on classwork and internal tests.
The expected level for a child at the end of Year 9 is around a level 5b
Level 6b is considered to be a good working level since, for example, it is the level many schools use to determine who will be allowed to take triple science where offered.
Level 7 is above the expectated standard for a Year 9 child

At most grammar schools though there will be children at level 7's and level 8 (the highest pre GCSE nc level for maths) from an early stage.

It is true that initially, many students in Year 7 will have very low nc levels for new subjects such as languages but by Year 9 these should not be trailing behind their other subjects quite so much.

Thank you very much for that, Loopylou. Presumably, 2sublevels of improvement are expected each year - or perhaps more in a GS?

Levels are gone! Schools shouldn't be using them.

Moved - school can use what they like, including levels, if they want to.

Plotting data against assessment criteria.

Nothing is thoroughly worked out yet. The government removed levels and Ofsted have accepted that schools may not have robust procedures in place yet.

However, many do.

Crossed with G55, but unfortunately for some subjects, particularly (primary) maths there are major differences between levels and the expectations of the new curriculum. None of our inner city London schools are using levels. We are using tracking grids that correspond to the new curriculum for English and maths.

APP can still be used - the grids go up to level 8.

Not at all dissimilar to APP. Updated for new national curriculum.

We haven't found updating necessary - a level is a level.
