MEG's - help!

Post by thescribe »

Hi, I'm hoping someone will be able to explain something for me. My DS has just had his first report from secondary. It lists his Minimum Expected Grades in all his subjects but unfortunately comes with no literature to explain what the h*** it all means!

First question. Where do they get those from? Are they based on SAT scores? (the horrible new SAT's that he sat in May of this year.) If so, what do they base the score on when there was no SAT in that subject? For example, Latin?

Also, what do they mean??

What does a MEG of 6.4 mean?
A MEG of 7.6?

Help, please!!!

It sounds as if they link to the new GCSE grades ... 9 is the new A** and 5 the new 'good GCSE' = high C/low B.

No idea how they got them ...

Why dont you ask the school to explain them?

I think I'll have to, it's all beyond me! All I want to know is if he's doing okay, it's so complicated!
