Help - Bond How To Do NVR - Explanations Reqd
Hi,
I just bought the Bond How To Do Non Verbal Reasoning (First published 2015) and my son is following the book with interest.
I'm usually pretty good at this type of thing but both my wife and I are completely stumped to explain how they arrived at the answers to two questions:
Page 13 Q4 - Odd one out (Diagrams with 4 arrows) - they say the answer is D
Our best guess is that that is a line of symmetry in D but not in any of the others!
Page 27 Q4 - Missing shapes (More arrows!) - they say the answer is C
No ideas !!!!
If someone could put us out of our misery we'd be grateful! Thanks

Odd one out:
Fill in the blank:
Having looked at the first one again, d is the only one where the lines do not form an enclosed area, but still stumped on the second one!

Hi davec, I agree with your thinking for Q. 4 - the odd one out is the only shape which is symmetrical. No clue for the second question, I'm afraid.
What I would suggest is that you ditch the How To... book and buy Bond 11+ Test Papers (NOT assessment papers books, but the set of 4 practice test papers.) The reason is that the practice test papers include a Notes/Answers booklet which gives a full explanation to every answer, step by step - at least that was the case in their test papers in the past. From what I can see, the papers currently on sale are exactly the same as before. Their new CEM format test papers also include explanations along with the answers. Good luck!

It felt like I hit rock bottom; suddenly, there was knocking from beneath... (anon.)

I would say q4 the arrows rotate clockwise moving from left to right

Who knows?!!!
In a test though if DC comes across a question that takes this long to figure out then the advice would definitely be to skip it and go back only if time at the end!

Hi,
First question relates to symmetry. Option d is the only symetrical one, so is the odd one out.
Second questions relates to the number of right angles in the sequence: 1,2,3,?,5
Option C has 4 right angles.
