Re: 3.5million younger children affected by "loss of childh
I love these totally unbiased, objective rounded reports.
I will continue to do what I believe is right for my dc's and if that includes them going to a school that caters for their abilities even if it involves a bus journey then that is what will happen.
Our dc's are lucky to be able to access an education, unfortunately not all of them make the most of this opportunity and can spoil it for those who want to learn. As a child this stressed me out much much more than the 45min bus journey to my nearest school.
All dc's have some stress and difficulty in their lives at some point, they have to learn to manage it.
My dc1(off to grammar in September via the bus) will have his school friends and his home friends(they are already at 4 different schools) so the best of both worlds.

Please do not patronize me or tell me how to parent my dc's!I write on behalf of your little kids whose childhood many parents are going to ruin , by entering the education rat race

Now take a look at Dutch children , they are the Happiest
Now that is interesting because the Dutch education system is fully selective at age 12 with all children being split into 3 ability levels. It is also possible there (like in the US) to hold children back a year if they do not "pass" the year.

Caning rife in Indian schools :damaging children for life
Five months ago, on a seemingly innocuous Friday afternoon, Ajay and Sheena’s youngest son hanged himself in the terrace room of his Kolkata home. Their youngest was a month shy of turning 13. Too young to understand the complexities of a modern world, yet traumatized enough to not want to belong to it anymore .He committed suicide four days after he was caned by the principal of his school, La Martiniere, a prestigious private school in Kolkata, over disciplinary issues.

Oh come on oilfxpro with the picture you paint we might as well all give up living now.
Forget uni fees better start saving for the shrink that my dc's are obviously going to need given that they have to get, horror of horrors, a BUS to school!!! And oh heavens no, the chaos caused in their lives by the fact that I work part time as a teacher!
[goes to sob quietly in the corner because of the pain she is inflicting on her children]
