I watched it and it was mildly interesting to see which famous people had gone o a grammar chool in the dys when scholarships were needed, but didn't think it said very much really. Mybe the next episode I'll be more relevant to odys grammar schools?

I thought it interesting that the parents of one of the boys paid a teacher to give their son some extra lessons to help him prepare for the scholarship, and it was also mentioned that another boy avoided the extra homework and preparation for the scholarship because he was shipped off to the country during the war. It seems that tutoring for the 11+ has been going on for some time.

The Times TV reviewer found the programme ".. fascinating but melancholy. The ghosts at the nostalgia feast were everyone excluded by a bouncer called the eleven-plus".
