From a parent's point of view( having been through this 14 and 10 years ago) the most important thing is where do you think your child would be happy and thrive ..not necessarily where they say they want to go..)

with hindsight my son's school was not the best for him, my daughter thrived in grammar school, but my son ( charitably described as a 'free spirit') was unhappy , despite the fact that he had really high scores in his 11+.

I also know, professionally, of 2 children who aced the 11+ but didn't want to go to grammar and went on to university and did really well.

You know your child and what makes them happy. That ,to me, is paramount.
