Hi all, my son is currently in Year 5 and would like to go for the grammar tests.

We are in SE London so would be going for the Bexley, Kent and possibly the St Olaves tests.

Question is, when do we apply? And can it all be done online?

Many thanks

Hi, I think you would be taking the tests in 2015 rather than in 2016. If you look at the individual schools website, under their admission section, you should find the dates to apply for their entrance exams.

Good luck :)

For Bexley and Kent, would you not look on the council websites rather than individual schools?

You are prob right, I'm in hertfordshire so no personal experience for Kent and Bexley :) where I am, we look at individual schools for details.

In Bexley the application period will begin in May 2015 and close in July 2015, the exact dates have not been announced yet. The tests will take place in the middle of September 2015 and the application is all done online.

Bexley 11+ applications open on line at the Bexley Council website on 5th May 2015 and close in July 2015.

St Olaves: you need to submit a SIF to the school by hand or by recorded delivery by a set date in July 2015 (Last summer it was 4th July). Then you must take the test in early September 2015 (last year it was on 12th Sept). After this you will get a letter giving you a likely, possible or unlikely. Then you must submit the CAF (common application form ) to Bromley by Oct 31st 2015.

If you have a likely for Olaves you must put it top of your CAF. If you have a possible it is up to you to choose to risk it. If you have an unlikely, don't put Olaves down as one of your choices as you will be wasting a choice.

Olaves might be changing to a 2 part test this year or next year so keep checking the website. The two part means that you will only know if your DS has passed the SET (selective eligibility test) by the time you have to submit your CAF. Your child will then have to sit another test. A pain as you have a greater chance of wasting a choice on the CAF.

You can apply for both Bexley and Bronley grammar schools on the same CAF, but you must apply as I have mentioned above for both before July 2015 to be able to sit the selective tests.

Hope this helps?
